Dear IGSD Parents and Guardians,

Iowa-Grant School District will be all virtual next week.  This means that we will be virtual through December 4th.  I am sorry that this message didn’t go out sooner, but deciding to switch to virtual is something that we do not take lightly.

Students will not return to in-person learning until December 7th.  Students will be expected to attend classes tomorrow, the week of November 16th-20th, and November 30th-December 4th.  There will not be school for students the week of Thanksgiving, November 23rd-27th.

At IGEMS materials may be picked up between 2:00 and 6:00 pm on Fridays or Monday mornings after 7:00 am.  At the High School the front doors will be open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm each week of virtual.  Additionally, the High School doors will be open from 7:30 to 3:00 on November 23rd and 24th.  High School teachers will be in contact with your son/daughter if there are materials to pick up.  Please don’t hesitate to call the school office to ensure materials are indeed waiting to be picked up.

We will continue to provide meals to students while they are safer at home.  Families who sign up by 9:00 am tomorrow (November 13th) will have meals ready for pick up next week on Monday and Thursday from 1:30-2:30 pm. Each pickup will include 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches for each student. Pickups will be at the IGEMS main entrance for all students. If interested, please sign up here.

We realize that internet service can be spotty and have made valiant efforts to help families connect through the Digital Learning Bridge program.  Additionally, we will continue to open our doors for students in 5th-12th grade to work independently while using our internet.  IGEMS Students should be picked up and dropped off at the Back Door.  No adults or other family members allowed in the building.  Students will be expected to work independently.  IGEMS Students should be picked up no later than noon.  Please call ahead to ensure that we can accommodate.  The following hours apply each day on which students are expected to attend virtually.

  • IGEMS Cafeteria Open 7:45 am - 12:00 pm on Virtual Days

  • IGHS IMC Open 7:45 am - 3:30 pm on Virtual Mon-Thu

  • IGHS IMC Open 7:45 am - 11:00 am on Virtual Fridays

The Health Officer for Iowa County shared yesterday:  “As the COVID situation in WI worsens and hospitals continue to surge to their limits, Wisconsin Hospital Association and the Stop the COVID Spread! Coalition released a somber ad and the attached press release yesterday.”  The ad can be viewed here and the press release is linked here.

Please consider staying at home and not gathering with anyone outside of immediate family.  The spread of COVID-19 is tricky because people are contagious without symptoms.  We have many families in our district with one or more members who are positive.  If you or your family are quarantined, please follow protocols to prevent the spreading of the virus. Notify the school if your child is diagnosed with COVID-19 or is a close contact to someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19.  Encourage good habits: frequent handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, use of face coverings in. public, and staying home as much as possible. If a parent or any household member has been tested for COVID and are waiting for results, remain at home along with all family members until results are back. If positive, the health dept will instruct you and household members on isolation and quarantine dates.

The state report cards are out ~ IGEMS is a 5 star school!

Each Fall, the Office of Educational Accountability (OEA) at the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) issues Accountability Report Cards for schools and districts in Wisconsin. The report cards present key information related to outcomes for students as measured by statewide assessments, attendance, staying in school, and high school completion.  Whole school performance cannot be captured in any one report, but we are very proud of our students, staff and community for the work that they do each day to help us reach for those 5 stars!
