Middle School Cross Country
Run long, run strong, run with pride, with every stride
Middle School Cross Country is back at IGEMS!
Cross Country involves running longer distances over various terrain but keep in mind, the training for Cross Country involves more than just running! Throughout the season we do a variety of different workouts such as easy distance runs, hill sprints, strength work (i.e. pushups, lunges, squats, etc.), and core work (i.e. crunches, planks, etc.). Students will run on the grass, pavement, and trails located around the Iowa-Grant campus. One of the great things about cross country, aside from getting you into shape, is that it can be done with nothing more than some dedication and a pair of running shoes.
Students who participate in cross country will race several times throughout the season at our cross country meets. These meets will be against other schools in our area and will consist of a 1.5 mile race. Generally there are separate races for boys and girls. Generally the season begins in early September with the start of the school year and ends mid-October.
7th and 8th graders interested in becoming part of the Iowa-Grant Cross Country Middle School team, please watch for information this fall. No experience necessary!
