Annual Iowa-Grant Toy Drive! Toys and books can be dropped off at IGEMS from November 25th through December 6th (no stuffed animals please!) We also will accept things for our older students such as new blankets, jewelry, craft kits, sports equipment, card games, etc… If you are interested in sending in a monetary donation please make checks out to the Iowa-Grant School District and mark the envelope Toy Drive.
Families who are in need of a Santa Sack can contact Darcy Breuer at dbreuer@igs.k12.wi.us to sign up your family before December 5th. Reminder: Santa Sacks are only for families who need assistance to provide gifts for the holidays. Please include the following things in the email: your name and the best way to contact you, child(ren)’s age and gender, and a wish list of 2-3 items for each child. Staff members will make up a “Santa sack” for your family and you will be notified when your sack is ready to pick up at the school. Congratulations to Alayna E. for winning first place and Lucy S. for winning second place in the Voice of Democracy audio essay contest. This year's theme was "Is America Today Our Forefathers' Vision?" As part of the contest, students write and record a 3-5 minute audio essay. The Voice of Democracy has been the VFW's premier scholarship program since 1947. The awards were presented by Curtis Vacha, commander of the VFW Post 9298.
After reading October Sky, the freshman English classes designed and built their own rockets, incorporating a nose, body tube, and fins. Each group gave their rocket a name before launching them into flight. Awards were presented to the rockets with the highest flight and the best design. Congratulations to all the winners!

Kindergarten took a field trip to Cook's Woods! We learned about evergreen trees, we cut and carried a tree out of the woods and helped make a wreath and swag. We then learned how they make garland and wrap up trees for people to take home. Thank you to Cook's Woods for the fun learning experience.

The eighth grade class participated in the VFW essay contest, Patriot's Pen. Their task was to write a 300-400 word essay on the topic, My Voice in America's Democracy. The Ritchie Bowers Kohout Montfort VFW Post 9298 sponsored our local contest. They selected Ruby V.’s essay as the winning essay. Mackenzie L. took 2nd place, and Ryker H. received third place.
