12/10/22- IGH Wrestling @ Devils Duals Wisconsin Dells Invite IGH went 4-1 on the day for duals putting us in 9th place overall. We had wins over Boyceville, Stoughton, Cadott, and GET-Melrose-Mindoro. We lost to Marshfield. A good weekend of wrestling! Myles W. was 1-4 Jace C. was 1-4 Lucas C. went 3-2 with 2 pins Hunter S. was 5-0 3 pins. All bonus point wins. Our first STEM project in Physical Science was a great success! As students ended their Force & Motion Unit, the roller coaster project really allows student to apply their knowledge in a real world application. Students used their creativity and ingenuity to build these roller coasters.

Beginning the last week in December the sixth grade students will take a journey through the world of personal finance as they play “My Financial Life”. Every year in math students play the educational game that challenges them to save money for expenses and retirement while also having fun along the way. It begins at age 19 with each student deciding which education and career path they want to take as an adult. As different options appear on Google Slides each student adjusts the spreadsheet on their iPads to pay for things such as cars, weddings, vacations, and a home. They are given many temptations through the years to try to entice them to spend more. As with real life, there are always unexpected expenses like breakdowns and emergencies popping up. The game is played over the course of four class periods with each day covering twelve years of their life until they approach retirement age at 66. As they near the end of the game they determine whether they saved enough money to retire or if they spent too much along the way.
